Welcome!

St. Vincent Geist Half Marathon has made a commitment to help Indiana kids “Get Fit”. We encourage area schools and youth organizations to develop their own training program by gathering a group of kids and adult mentors who would like to participate in our race.

Groups can choose either the 5K (more appropriate for the younger and novice runner) our brand new 10K or the half marathon (for the older more experienced runner). Promotion of the training program, registration for the race and race day management is the responsibility of the school. We offer resources and guidance to assist with these processes, as well as, a training program coordinator that will be there to support the school every step of the way.

What you will need to get started:

• Adult training mentor/s, to assist students in their pre-event training and event preparation, plus race day assistance
• Adult volunteer support to assist with administration and perhaps training if needed
• “Can do” attitude!

There are several youth training programs that are going on their sixth, seventh or even 8th year with the event and their numbers continue to grow every year. This is the direct result of the strong commitment of the program mentors and volunteers. All the effort is worth its weight in gold, when you see your youth participants step out of their comfort zone and complete their first 5K (3.1 miles), 10K (6.2 miles )half marathon (13.1 miles)
